Our Nurses Welcome all
who come to the
Nursing Specialty Group Site

Our vocation of Nursing leads us to share in some of the most beautiful and profound mysteries of life. We join all nurses in their efforts to bring safe, competent and compassionate care to our patients. We thank you for the many contributions to Nursing.

There are many wonderful Nursing Organizations with dedicated leaders; each has something special to offer its members. Ours is no exception.

We stress spiritual development and its integration in our daily and professional life. Our daily prayer life is as important as our knowledge base in meeting the needs of our patients. Nothing can replace these moments of grace.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit:

Perhaps our greatest distinction from other Nursing Organizations is our integration of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We share a common belief that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to us today- with emphasis on the Giver of the Gifts.

We learn, participate, and teach the Christian Laying on of Hands. Healing prayer is not about learning techniques. It is about surrender to the Divine Healer, Jesus Christ. Like St Frances of Assisi, we are His instruments. Healing occurs through and because of Jesus Christ. We remain conscious of Paul's teaching in Corinthians I: 13- if you have all the gifts and not love you have gained nothing.

Multidisciplinary:

A great benefit for us is the fullness of belonging to a multi-disciplinary organization. We seek wholeness through holiness. Together we strive to combine God's transforming grace and healing prayer along with the benefits of many medical modalities to achieve health and to move through the transitions of life. We provide a safe harbor where we can rest and be refreshed through supporting, empowering and witnessing to each other. We walk together, believing in the healing power of Jesus and we want to share it.

Ecumenical:

We believe in the love of Abba Father and we desire to reflect the Compassionate Heart of Jesus and embrace the Holy Spirit. This allows for the flow of graces, love and the very fire of the Holy Spirit that holds us together. We are Ecumenical, respecting the gifts of many, as well as our different devotions and faith traditions. Our organization is consecrated to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. We have both Roman Catholic and Protestant worship services at our conferences. See Ecumenical statement on the Home page.

Several ACT nurses were discussing with co- founder Barbara Shelmon Ryan some of the hardships and frustrations that nurses experience in the workplace. Barbara composed the following litany for us:

We also encourage attending a Life in the Spirit Seminar which maybe held at our conferences but also in the local church communities. The seminar is designed to allow the individual to receive a fuller experience of the work of the Holy Spirit in one's life.
