Healing Primer

A Primer for Christian Healthcare Practice

Published by

The Association of Christian Therapists

The Primer is a compilation of case illustrations of Christian healing prayer applied in a variety of professional contexts. The intent is to provide a set of “pictures” of how practitioners of various healing disciplines integrate prayers for healing and Christian spirituality with their particular healthcare discipline.

The goal of the Primer is to instruct by example. Thus each chapter includes a case illustration of the integration of healing prayer and spiritual healing with a particular healthcare or ministry context.

The authors purpose with case illustrations is to demonstrate by example, including the example of each practitioner's life journey in this integrative work, as well as the example of their integrative thinking and applications. The authors also cover a range of healing disciplines to be both relevant to a broad range of fields and to demonstrate the tremendous variety of styles and contexts. Jesus in present to us and to our clients and patients where we are, through what we do, and where we meet others seeking beneficial care.

Overall, the authors desire to reveal the heart of Jesus and his healing presence and intention. Imperfect as we each are and imperfect as our integrative thinking and applications are, the heart and mind of Jesus shines through. He uses our prayer and our desire to minister in his name to work his healing for his people through our inspired yet limited understandings and ways.
