Therapists Journey to See Pope

ROME - Michigan
members of the Association of Christian Therapists (ACT)
were granted a private audience with Pope John Paul II
during their pilgrimage to Rome, May 19 - 27, 1991.
During the audience, Dr. Rita M. Versace, chairman of the
ACT Board, was able to present facts about the association
to the Holy Father.
The association is an international organization founded in
1975 by a group of health care professionals who had met at
a retreat. Its roots are in the charismatic renewal
movement.
Dr. Marge Roberts was coordinator of ACT's Michigan region
during this time.
While the majority of its members are Roman Catholic, many
are Christians from other denominations., Dr. Versace said,
adding that the association adheres to the Christian
teaching of the dignity of the human person and the sanctity
of life.
All members have made a radical commitment of their lives
and of their professions to Jesus Christ, she continued.
The mission of the association is to empower those in the
healing professions in the spirit and truth of Jesus Christ,
through prayer, the support of one another, and the sharing
of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Dr. Versace added.
