Steve’s Miracle

“First of all I want to thank all those who prayed for my 42 year old grandson Steve after his July 6th accident. Our God provided an amazing miracle for him and I praise God for it!

Steve was riding a motorized bike along a bike path that intersected with a road for vehicle traffic. There were apparently no waring signs on the road for vehicles, and trees were blocking the view at the intersection. The traffic speed was supposed to be 35 mph, but apparently the driver of the car that hit Steve was going much faster because when the car hit him and his bike, Steve was knocked off of his bike and his body was propelled over the car and over a fence on the other side of the road! 

Needless to say, Steve sustained great bodily injury.. He was not even wearing a helmet. His legs were not broken, but they had detached from his body. His skull was injured, but not cracked. His brain was not injured. The long and short of it was that every other bone in his body was crushed or broken. Whole sections of his spine and neck were actually missing and had to be reconstructed as well as his hip and other body parts. His xrays look like he’s an erector set project!  His doctors were amazed from the beginning.

His recovery was a long one. He was taken to a hospital in Denver. (It was a 2 1/2 hour drive from his family home,)  He was literally not able to move anything for 2 and a half months. He said there were signs all around his hospital room saying “ Don’t move this…don’t move that.” He was able to talk with labored effort since, of course he was highly sedated.  A few weeks ago in early September, he was allowed to move. Within a few weeks they got him up to walk and move about carefully. Within a couple of weeks he was learning to walk up and down stairs. ( He and his family live in a three story apartment, so this skill would be essential when he goes home.) Last week (September 17th I think it was) he was allowed to to go home to continue his recovery. One of his fears as he prepared to go home was that he regularly played rough and tumble with he 9 year old son. He had to get the point across to his son that there would be no rough and tumble any more!  Fortunately his wife is a highly qualified nurse!

From the very beginning, Steve’s journey was miraculous. The doctors were amazed, first of all that he survived and secondly that he progressed so quickly. His chief surgeon told him that any one of several of his injuries would normally have been fatal to most people.

He is truly a miracle of prayer!. He knows very well that God was on his side. Thank you, each one for your gift of prayer. We in his family are very grateful.”
